STOP The Wars & Genocide With Mass National General Strike
It is clear that over the past year, that is since Trump has become president, that the US and the world in general has fallen into an economic and social crisis that it cannot crawl out of. Capitalism is ill-equipped to deal with the crisis that it has created, and so it must resort to violence in order to keep people from demonstrating against its inability to deliver for its citizens. Much like Nazi Germany, the economy has collapsed, and there is no way to resolve the economic crisis, given the capitalists’ drive for ever-increasing profits. People are going hungry, homeless and without healthcare and they are fighting and striking in every major city in the US, but since the government, which represents the capitalists, is unable to pull us out of this crisis, like Nazi Germany, they are resorting to force to put down any dissent. People are being shot on the streets for protesting against the fascist tactics of the Trump administration when dealing with dissent. The massive 3,000 Gestapo agent occupation of Minneapolis and in Minnesota at large is a direct attack on all working people and unions in the United States. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Expect these tactics to be used in a city near you. Thus, Trump wants to cancel the mid-term elections because he is aware that the Republicans will lose. With the use of the Insurrection Act he is moving towards martial law. He knows he cannot afford to hold the mid-term elections because he knows that tens of millions of people are fed up with his attacks on healthcare and education, while arguing that the affordability crisis is a hoax. He has attacked freedom of speech and has intensified his drive towards war.
Trump will not be stopped with protests alone, although the community in Minneapolis is quite inspiring. The people are in the streets fighting back and are unwilling to give in to the techno- fascists like Musk, Peter Thiel, Larry Ellison, and David Sacks who have been put in charge of state power. They are the richest capitalists in the world, and they are implementing Project 2025, which is a fascist program for the privatization of all education, health care, and public services. They will use their billions to fund fascist armed gangs in addition to using AI to defend their wealth and are whipping up a domestic war, pitting worker against worker over their race, religion, nationality and gender. This is the method of fascism. Racism is the hook upon which the fascists wield their power.
At the same time, while there is a war against the working class in this country, there are wars pushed abroad. Trump has expanded the wars abroad and used open gangster tactics to steal the wealth from peoples around the world from Gaza to Venezuela. The latest example is the stealing of Venezuelan tankers that were shipping oil to places such as China. This is not just about Trump. US capitalism since the 70s has outsourced its industries to China and thus cannot compete. Seeking greater profits by outsourcing industry has meant that American workers have lost their ability to make decent wages over the past 40 years, creating instability and anger among US workers. Since it is too costly to reindustrialize, the American government’s answer is to openly steal the wealth of other countries using threats that they will attack if the leaders of these governments do not comply. That is exactly what happened in Venezuela and may possibly happen in Greenland.
Trump’s trade wars and the military attacks on Venezuela, Nigeria, Iran and threats against Colombia, Mexico and Greenland are also leading to a new world war as the post war economic system is breaking down. Trump in his desperation is escalating the decline of US capitalism as other imperialist countries now want deals with China as witnessed in the new trade deals between China and Canada. He wants to increase the military budget by 50% to $1.5 trillion yet tens of millions are losing their healthcare and are living day to day. This is open class war. NYC nurses are now out on strike because they are not only fighting for safe staffing, but for better healthcare for themselves. How ironic that there are people who work in the healthcare industry but cannot access decent healthcare for themselves.
In Minneapolis & Minnesota the AFL-CIO is calling for a statewide day of worker and community action on Jan 23, 2026, to get ICE out of Minnesota. While we support the call of Minnesotans, this is not just about Minnesota. ICE is everywhere and will continue to invade the cities, especially those that are DP run. We need to shut ICE down and organize a national general strike to shut Trump and the billionaire class down throughout the country. We are headed for a truly fascist society stripped of all democratic rights. The leadership of the AFL-CIO, that is, Liz Schuler, must meet this crisis and call on the AFL-CIO affiliates around the country to also organize general strikes before it is too late.
We need to organize and support the national campaign for a general strike of unions and of all working people. Trade unionists should fight for the national AFL-CIO to call solidarity actions with the workers and people in Minnesota. Their fight is our fight and if the Trump fascists are successful everyone else is next.
We need a mass democratic labor party with a program for public control of energy, the banks, airlines, utility, tech and energy. As long as these billionaires are in charge there is no solution to our crisis. The Democrats are no alternative to the Republicans as seen in the case of single payer; that is, the Democrats refuse to support it because they, as well as the Republicans, are controlled by the insurance and hospital industry. The DP is just the other wing of the ruling class. We need to build our own party that will speak for workers. The capitalists have 2 parties, workers need our own.
