ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! NO PUBLIC FUNDED STADIUM IN THE PORT OF OAKLAND FOR BILLIONAIRE, A’S OWNER, JOHN FISHER

Oakland, CA City Center 1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland, CA 94612, Oakland, CA

On January 19th, there will be another environmental hearing to approve the EIR that this project will follow the environmental rules. This is another charade. State politicians Nancy Skinner and Rob Banta with the support of Governor Newsom changed the rules to allow the port to be destroyed by the billionaire’s development and for it to be funded by hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money.

Clover is the largest dairy company with 5,000 workers. In 2019, the ANC government allowed it to be taken over by the Israeli billionaire Wertheim family. They promised to protect jobs until October 2022, but they are now laying off thousands and shutting plants in rural communities with plans to import Israeli products. The company also imposed a 20% cut in wages.

The South African Federation of Trade Unions, General Industrial Union of South Africa, and Food and Allied Workers union are also demanding that the company be nationalized and that it be run under workers con- trol. They are also supporting an international day of solidarity action.

Actions will be held at Israeli consulates, embassies, South African consulates, embassies, and the Israeli bank Mizrahi Tefahot which is owned by the Wertheim family and is the third largest bank in Israel.

The Wertheim family also controls the Coca-Cola franchise through the Central Bottling Company, CBC.

They support and fund Israeli settlements on Palestinian land and the Israeli Defense Forces.

On January 18th, in an escalation of the attacks on striking workers by Clover bosses, rubber bullets were fired at workers injuring them at the Clover Clayville plant in Johannesburg. The use of rubber bullets by Clover’s private security forces is linked up directly with the treatment of Palestinians except they use bullets to terrorize and murder.

Workers’ demands are clear:

1. The unconditional re-instatement of all retrenched workers

2. The complete scrapping of all austerity measures including the 20% salary cuts

3. The disinvestment of Milco SA/CBC

4. Nationalization of Clover SA and its complete transformation into a co-operative run by workers and communities.

DUMP A’s Billionaire Fisher’s Stadium Scam

Oakland City Hall - Oscar Grant Plaza 14th St & Broadway, Oakland, CA

What is also behind this is that these capitalist politicians take their orders from the billionaires who really run Oakland and California. While California has a $45.7 billion-dollar budget surplus, they are starving OSUD, SFUSD, and San Francisco City College and are using the publicly funded but privately run FCMAT (Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team) to order budget cuts and school closures in mostly urban working-class Black and Brown school districts.

Stop Privatization, Union Busting And Outsourcing In SF & California

San Francisco City Hall 1 Dr Carlton B Goodlett Pl, San Francisco,, CA

The City and County of San Francisco is spending hundreds of millions of dollars outsourcing public jobs to consultants, companies, and privately run profits. At the same time, the Mayor and Department of Human Resources DHR has instituted a hiring freeze of permanent employees even before the pandemic.

Workers who have medical exemptions are also being terminated by the City, while the City refuses to have regular testing of all workers in Muni, DPH, and other departments. We demand an end of these retaliatory firings and for the unions to demand that they be halted by workers’ action.
